Re: DarkMages Intro
I took Tai Kwon Do classes once for about a year, only to have my dad defeat every single fancy technique I'd learned armed only with the moves he'd developed while fending off the roving gangs of junior punks that plagued his old neighborhood and school, and not once did I land a blow. Whereas after two months of boxing lessons, I actually landed at least a dozen hits before he grabbed my arms and pushed me to the floor. Granted, none of those blows were particularly effective, but considering who I was up against that doesn't come as a surprise. My dad's small like me, but he's got more fighting experience than me and everyone I know put together. As for Akido, I don't really know anything about it so I can't say if it's effective or not.

Tai Kwon Do: What's the size difference between you and your dad? I took it for around 6 years (almost half of my life), and I can easily take just about anyone within 75 pounds of my weight class.
Akido: Akido is basically elegant badassery to the max. It teaches no offensive move at all. Every single technique is either a block or a counter attack. It's kinda like this:
Giant muscular guy #1 runs towards Slim Dude #3, flailing wildly with his arms. At the last second, Slim Dude #3 steps slightly to the left, stretches one leg out in front of Giant Muscular Guy #1, then once he has begun falling, places one hand on his back, grabs it, and uses Giant Muscular Guy #1's own momentum to throw him 20 feet into a brick wall, headfirst.

My dad's got at least eight inches on me and outweighs me by almost eighty pounds. All the same, keep in mind that pretty much all the guys he's ever taken on have been a lot bigger than him, and they usually brought their friends to the party. And like I said, most martial arts work great once you've reached a high level of proficiency, but it takes a long time to get to that point, and with boxing I was able to become a much better fighter very quickly.

Isn't that UFC Fighting? Personally I prefur Krav Maga in the Martial Arts department.
Re: DarkMages Intro
Over the weekend I was wrestling with some of my friends on a church retreat, it was a lot of fun I was 3-0 *flexes arms*. What no applause?

Re: DarkMages Intro
Oh, so wrestling is weak, huh? I beg to differ. It was used since Rome was in power, to be continued that far it has to be powerful. Used for sport and to kill, I think that it is definitely strong. Street fighting is dirty fighting, there is no skill.

Re: DarkMages Intro
I dont fight for fucking entertainment, and its not fucking dirty, its to SURVIVE. Krav Maga is the ONLY way to go, all other forms of fighting are weak and useless, I'm not gonna let anyone pull one on me (Krav Maga and street fighting are pretty similar by the way). Also, what we classify as 'dirty fighting' has been around as long as life has. So Wrestling ain't got nothin' on me!
Re: DarkMages Intro
Mhm, I'm sure. I'm sure that you can evade a quick strike going for your legs and then being thrown strait to the ground. If you can avoid that, what about when I have both of your legs?

Re: DarkMages Intro
We've already finished this arguement... I think. There is no logic in keeping this thread open, the only sensible solution is to lock it.

We didn't finish, we were still going, at least I thought that we could go on.
