My first attempt at an assault rifle:

My unfinished SE character demo:

A sig I made but never used:

And now, back to where it all began! My shitty Pivot animations! Please note that these are included for your amusement, and I don't mind i you laugh at me for them, but I'd like the primary focus to be on the newer stuff.

everything here is shit.

S.h.i.t.

...ok maybe that was too harsh.

Austrailian Watered down version.

It needs a lot of work and stuff like the gun doesn't take much effort.

Animations need incredibly more amounts of basic techniques. I understand that it takes a while to learn the basics, but try to put more emphasis on them.

What basics are you referring to?
Oh work, yeah that's rich.

By working on the gun i would mean trying to devise an orginal one, or add in some better gradients, or even add in mroe detail. Try to get creative.

On the basics, I'm talking about easing, anticipation, force, etc.

(Yes, these can all be applyed with tweening too.)

I don't tween.
What's wrong with using a gun that already exists? Seems to make a hell of a lot more sense to me.
I dislike using gradients on flat surfaces.
I was going for a simplistic 'comic book' style for the 3-d gun test.
And I did ease on the 3-D gun, it slows as the force from the shot dissipates.

When a gun fires it usually just goes back and comes back to a rest. Easing will give the illusion that there wasn't much force. Just add in another frame of going back and you'd be good.

I understand using weapons that already exists, but using bevel as a replacement for Gradients is not a good idea. When you get into long term projects Bevel will destroy the file size.

Use gradients correctly, and it will look real. Idk what your talking about using it on flat surfaces. Gradients ar meant to give an object a somewhat realistic view. Yes. Flat surfaces on a gun have shading gradients on them too in Real life. Also, on assault rifles, a lot of it is rounded. you CANNOT use solid colors for a rounded part.

Bevel in what? I use it sometimes, but most of the time I don't shade at all or I use a comic style two color shading.
Also, I have a ton of guns, and the shading depends on the type/amount of lighting. The rounded parts can be one color. Besides, the guns are all meant to be shaded during the animation.

What? shaded in animating? I have no idea what you're talking about now.

You really should just take the C&C and go with it, especially when its someone who knows more than you.

Yes. Just add a 'detail layer' on top of it, then add the shadings there.

Shift wrote:You really should just take the C&C and go with it, especially when its someone who knows more than you.

You
really should just be less of an asshole.
And if I may, I'd like to respond to that with this simple message:
Fuck you. You're an overcritical shitface, and I'd appreciate it if you would be more fair. A good portion of this was made in my first two weeks of animating in flash, so judge based on that.

Also, SHUT UP. Just because something isn't perfect does not mean it isn't good, or at least average.

actually, theres a difference between good and shit.

I told you that you would not want me to respond. What do i get for your request? An asshole bitch who knows little to none about taking c&C and will probably not improve due to it.

Over critical? ha.
What i said was only the surface of things to improve. Don't make me laugh. You've become over cocky since you think that nobody can insult you or anytihng over the internet cuz you think im afriad of your "admin" status or "infractions".

and adding detail on another layer is jsut a waste of time. More than likely the lighting will only change if you change scenes. Meaning a whole new set of layers.

The guns are average. But you know whats average nowadays? The twats on FA who make generic n00b stick fights.

Shut up? what authority do you have over me?

Your really pissing me off. People like you who cant just grow a pair and take C&C don't deserve to get help. Do you really wanna know what kinda shit i got on my first animations? It was the equivalent of Victoy and that Sam dude off of American Idol just acting likes dusche bags.

Most people would have said

"Ha. n00b. Sux.No need to respond.

You wanna know what i made in 2 weeks? I'll show you...When i get home from school.

Judge based on 2 weeks of animation? what? It's like putting up a shitty piece of art and being like

"oh! My beautiful art! Praise it!'

And then when people C&C you go

"I put it up for praise D:"

others

"ha. Who would praise that?"

Thats basically what you were expecting. My C&C was normal. Most people take it and improve.

now. If you really want help, go and get rid of all the bullshit in your system and then maybe we can talk about how you could improve.

No, I said I didn't know what you would say, and you said I did. No one said anything about not wanting to, other than you saying 'I don't want to.

Over critical? ha.

I never said that, and I don't mind being insulted, but when people act all 'it's shit' about somthing that may not be perfect, but still can be said to be 'not eyebleedingly terrible', it pisses me off.

and adding detail on another layer is jsut a waste of time. More than likely the lighting will only change if you change scenes. Meaning a whole new set of layers.

Or if the character moves, or if someone has a flashlight, or if someone lights a fire, or, in fact, a multitude of things. Besides, I know a guy who's in professional animation, and that is a technique that is used.

The guns are average. But you know whats average nowadays? The twats on FA who make generic n00b stick fights.

Will you stop talking about FA? I have no clue what that is, but I'm going to assume that it's similar to Newgrounds. Also, I love your definition of 'average'. D-'s are 'average' grades at my school. Doesn't mean that it's acceptable to say 'Oh, everybody else sucks so I'm not going to work!'

Shut up? what authority do you have over me?

Your really pissing me off. People like you who cant just grow a pair and take C&C don't deserve to get help. Do you really wanna know what kinda shit i got on my first animations? It was the equivalent of Victoy and that Sam dude off of American Idol just acting likes dusche bags.

You're lucky. Just about every website is blocked at my school.

Judge based on 2 weeks of animation? what? It's like putting up a shitty piece of art and being like

Oddly enough, YES. You are supposed to judge based on the person's status as an animator. Mine of course being 'New and sucky'. Yes, I said it. I'm aware of it. But the fact that you are being an asshole about every little thing causes me to have to leave, punch a hole in the wall of the abandoned house right next to mine, then come back.

"oh! My beautiful art! Praise it!'

And then when people C&C you go

But you weren't C&Cing, it was more to the effect of 'This is all SHIT. Take some tutorials'

"I put it up for praise D:"

others

"ha. Who would praise that?"

Thats basically what you were expecting. My C&C was normal. Most people take it and improve.

now. If you really want help, go and get rid of all the bullshit in your system and then maybe we can talk about how you could improve.

I want to improve, but when you post bullshit 'oh, it's just C&C so I get to be a bitch' posts, it pisses me off.

And on top of all of this, I'd like to point out that this isn't a very good time for me in my life. What with my best friend's house burning down, the school not allowing me to help, my grades being low for reasons that I can't control, and the daily bullshit I'm forced to put up with at school due to are retarded 'you are not allowed to defend yourself or you get in just as much trouble as the person attempting to mug you' policy (it's actually called the 'hands off' policy, but I think I captured the essence of it better).
So, please, C&C, but try not to piss me off too much. I have medical and mental issues whithout all of the shit going on right now.
But I respect you as an animator, and as a person.
So, in closing, thank you, Shift, for at least being honest and not being like those douches who only praise because they're afraid of whoever it is banning them. That takes balls. Have a cookie. And if you'd like to give me some tips that are not mixed in with insults, I'll gladly accept them.

edit: oh, btw

FA is Fluidanims.com

You might have heard of Terkoiz, Hyun and those other great FBF animators? They come from here.

You can learn and improve a lot from here. Lately however, (as i said above) it's been filled with twats doing generic Line B.G's and stick fights Sad

On the subject of the picots- Those are from like two years ago, except for maybe 2.

Oh, fluidanims, I've heard of it. Just didn't know what FA was.

And I don't have many current ones; for the most part I've been doing really short practice animations. I'll re make the angled gun test animation to start.
