The Nightside [RPG]

Post by Damian on Tue Oct 20, 2009 2:00 pm

I have decided to make an RPG based on Simon R. Green's Nightside books. If you haven't read them, here's the basic premise:

The Nightside, the secret hidden heart of London, where it's always 3 in the morning and the dawn never comes. Where Gods and Devils walk the streets side by side, and mortals go about, seeking their own personal salvations and damnations. Where you can find anything, if you know where to look, and if it doesn't find you first. Where you can have anything you want, for the right price.

And now, here's what's going on in this RPG:
The city lays in shambles in the wake of the recent Angel War, when servants from Above and Below met in combat. Many of the major players are weakened, missing, or dead. And it is believed that something even worse is coming.

So, we'll play as characters we create. We're new, up and coming Powers. I'll control the major NPCs, but I think I'll make my own character as well.

Character sheets:

name:(what you go by)
Name:[optional](your True Name)
Age:(how old you are)
Gift:(any special powers you posses)
Weapons:(any weapons/items that you use)
Appearance:(what you look like)
Bio:[optional, but it is preferred that you have one](a brief history of your character)

My character sheet:
name: Ezekiel Syphon
Name: unknown, presumed to be Ezekiel Syphon
Age: unknown, appears to be in his mid-twenties
Gift: Can 'siphon' any energy from anything.
Weapons: Just about anything he can think of, thanks to a portable Timeslip that allows him to reach into any reality in the multiverse
Appearance: Tall, shoulder length light brown hair, ice blue eyes, wears a green military jacket and faded blue jeans.
Bio: Little is known of his past, and he likes to keep it that way (good for his reputation, you see)

gogogo!!

I think I'll give this a shot.

Name: None.
True name: Guardian.
Age: Unknown.
Gift: Can control shadows and use them for anything you can think of.
Weapons: Large blade.
Appearance: Black coat that covers entire body and lower half of it's face. Black hat that covers everything above it's eyes. Eyes shine red in the little space between the coat and hat. About 7 feet tall.
Bio: Nothing is known about it. Those that know something about it usualy end up dead before they can tell anyone.
Other info: Silent. Hostile towards anything living.

Yay!
(This RP looks fun.)

name: Perseus Asyruth
Name:Unknown
Age: Presumably 27.
Gift: Imitation of animal or human faces of any kind, blue fire from hands, extremely effective stealth.
Weapons: blue fire, 'Sword of Icarus'.
Appearance: Black coat and robe outside of it. Slivers of red show his armor; the armor of the saints.
Bio: No bio information of the mysterious man. The sword of Icarus was a black, metal and blood-stained medieval sword of death and battles crafted and used by Icarus Tremus. The blue fire is utterly unknown.

Re: The Nightside [RPG]

(let's get started)

Walker strolled down the street in his old school suit, his cane supporting his weight as he went. He was the enforcer of the Authorities, the shadowy faceless buisnessmen who ran the Nightside, inasmuch as anyone did. Or could. In the wake of the Angel War, Walker was overseeing the rebuilding of the eastern area of the Nightside. He was worried. Witch in itself is frightening. Men like Walker don't get scared. He was walking down the Street of Gods, basically a Las Vegas strip for churches. He was looking for someone.
"Hello Ezekiel."
I turned my head, shaking my hair out of my face. "Hey Walker. What do you want?"
He sighed. "I need a favor."
"Uhuh, and this favor would be...?"
"I need you to find out if the rumors are true."
"What rumors? There's never any shortage of those here in the Nightside."
"The ones about Something even worse than the Angel Wars coming."
"I assume you'll be paying me."
"100,000 pounds."
"I'll get started."

I walked the streets of Uptown, looking for the man named Perseus Asyruth.

Asyruth strolled silently down the dark alley. He was having s suspicious feeling; he was being watched... someone was trying to find him. He reached for the handle of his sword. "Reveal thyself, insolent human."
No response. No reason to risk stealth, he thought. His hand slowly retreated to his robe. He walked faster.

The dark city of night hid his invisible shadow like a huge blanket. He was walking down the street, when...
Oh, no, his thoughts stirred, shit. There's a man out here. But at three AM...?
His hand reached to his face, and touched the chin. The bones of his skull changed. He was now the senator of the area in his facial features.
The man only just passed by. "Hello, Senator Rick. Have you seen 'Perseus Asyruth'?"
"No, I have but seen myself this cold night."
Them man was obviously skeptical. "Alrighty then." He continued.
Perseus grinned. He didn't know it, but the man would soon make a vital appearance in his life.

I was suspicious of this 'senator'. I began walking away, then I turned around quickly and siphoned his transformation energies, with the intent of removing the false face.
(also, Midget,in the Nightside, it's ALWAYS three AM.)

(OK, didn't know)

He crossed the intermixing streets unnoticed. The howling winds of time brushed against his guilty face. Did that man know that I was... He shook his head. No, he couldn't 'ave, he reassured himself. "That's impossible."

He entered a Chinese pawn shop. He gestured his head to the back door. "I want a...special object."
"Oh?" the Chinese owner replied. "The back..." he whispered to himself. "...lead him to the back." He lifted his head and became louder. "Yes! Please follow me."
Perseus followed. "So," he began, "do have any automatics back there?"
"Oh, no. Grenades and 'launchers, yes." The clerk grinned.
Asyruth followed in the man's footsteps. What a strange place, he thought. So many weapons... wait... Chinese pawn shop... grenades and missile launchers... the Chaui! The Chaui were a nefarious weapon-selling group, one with a huge bounty over every members' head, up to 10,000 dollars in Yen or Euro. The bounty...

...is mine.

I followed the man claiming not to be Asyruth. He went into a Chinese pawn shop, so I followed him in.
"Hello." I said, standing in an aggravatingly uncaring posture.

Asyruth stood over the bloody corpse of his work, smiling. "Heh."
A man walked into the shop.
"Shit..." he burned the blood and body away. "Hello sir. Having a good night tonight?" he said as his face changed.
The man grinned. "I'm no fool."
"And I am no nobleman." Perseus said. He lifted his hand, slowly... slowly...
The man raised his cane. "You have no idea what your doing, Asyruth."
Perseus smiled. "And don't wear it out." He disappeared into the back of the shop. "We'll meet in the divine crossing of paths some time... soon."
The other man smiled. "I won't forget your name..." he began, "when you've found me, and I've found you." He stood, firmly in one spot.
"Impressive. Your name?"
"Ezekiel."

I stood there, gave the man my name, then spoke again.
"I have something to talk to you about. It involves lots and lots of money. Listen, something's about to happen. Suddenly and violently and all over the place. I'm talking serious Old Testament retribution style shit here. Walker want's me to find out what's going to cause this, and ,if possible, stop it. I'm asking for your help in this. And yes, I can guarantee you payment."

name:Ludwig
Name:Ludwig Von Reppert
Age:376 (appears to be around 20)
Gift:Half vampire, half werewolf
Weapons:Claws, fangs, and a rapier
Appearance:http://www.sewingcentral.com/images/rch702.gif Sort of like that, except hair in a short pony tail in the back.
Bio:Ludwig's parents were killed by a mod in his homeland of Germany, for they were "monsters". At the age of 12 he adopted strange powers, a "gift" and "curse" from his parents. Since then he has used this power to help Germany, the exception being WWII. Ludwig was against the Nazis, and would not fight along side them. People say that Hitler committed suicide, they were wrong.
